Helen Johannessen MA RCA is a ceramic artist working with traditional industrial pottery techniques in a contemporary language. The process of material play - liquid to solid - is the essence of her practice. A trained model and mould maker with honed skills and experience, she pushes the expectations of porcelain in her studio work. Tone, shadows, texture, movement and layers build an expressive quality in her delicate and refined aesthetic. The consideration of light and the effects as a visceral sensation with porcelain, connecting the elements - earth, water, air, fire.
