New Public oversaw complex project management and the installation/deinstallation of works at this iconic site in Trafalgar Square, home to one of the world's most celebrated public art programmes - the bi-annual Fourth Plinth commission.

This September, Teresa Margolles’ ‘Mil Veces un Instante’ made way for Tschabalala Self’s ‘Lady in Blue’, a powerful new sculpture of a young, metropolitan woman of colour, striding forward with ambition and purpose in the heart of London. The work is cast in bronze and patinated in Lapis Lazuli blue, bringing a bold contemporary presence to this historic civic site.

Since 1999, the Fourth Plinth, an initiative from the London Mayor, has placed work by internationally renowned artists into Trafalgar Square, becoming one of the most significant public art commissions worldwide. In September 2026, ‘Lady in Blue’ was unveiled on the Fourth Plinth as the next commission in the landmark Trafalgar Square programme, which presents a new sculpture every two years.
