Maciver headlines Art After Dark 2026 with 'Rise and Shine', a landmark public artwork transforming Piccadilly Circus into a vibrant celebration of music, colour and community.

Commissioned by Art of London, the seven-metre-tall sculptural installation takes the form of stacked illuminated lightboxes, channelling the energy of classic sound systems and London’s nightlife culture. Drawing inspiration by community music culture, its acid-bright visuals and illuminated forms reference the nightlife of the 1980s and 1990s, a period that influenced music genres from hip-hop to drum and bass.

Installed at one of London’s most recognisable landmarks, the artwork is accompanied by digital commissions displayed daily on the iconic Piccadilly Lights and screens within the West End, extending the project’s reach throughout the district. Together, these interventions invite the public to gather, move, and experience art beyond traditional gallery settings.

Art After Dark will also animate the West End with a programme of late-night events, including a special one-off after-hours DJ event at The National Gallery, special offers and live performances at local bars and nightclubs, and an exclusive Q&A with Lakwena, in partnership with Apple.

Free and open to all, 'Rise and Shine' continues New Public’s commitment to accessible public art, placing ambitious contemporary work at the centre of everyday urban life.
