Lobster Yards by Philip Colbert

For Borough Yards

New Public is proud to present 'Lobster Yards', a landmark public art installation by acclaimed contemporary artist Philip Colbert, curated by us in partnership with Borough Yards.

This bold project marks New Public’s largest public art takeover to date, and Borough Yards’ first major artist collaboration - transforming the heart of London Bridge’s cultural quarter into a surreal lobster playground of colour, imagination and connection.

The installation running from Aug-Oct 2025, features five over two-meter-high

lobster sculptures, playful vinyl interventions across floors and facades, and two major exclusives: the world premiere of Colbert’s four-metre 'Seated Lobster Inflatable' and the UK debut of his 'Lobster Shark'.

“Art should extend beyond the confines of traditional gallery spaces,” says artist, Philip Colbert, “with ‘Lobster Yards,’ I wanted to bring the colour, humour and imagination of the lobster universe to London, creating a free, open-air cultural experience that invites people to engage with art in a different way.”

The takeover invites Londoners and visitors alike to experience Colbert’s work beyond the gallery, showcasing his belief in the importance of publicly accessible, democratic art.
